FAQ

  • When will the Early Enrollment Program Start?

You can sign up right now!

We are planning on releasing the first 3 modules the first week of March and the rest of the program towards the end of March.

  • Are Sport Rockets safe?

Sport Rockets are very safe, but don't take our word for it, see what the National Association of Rocketry has to say: NAR Safety Information

  • What building tools do I need?

You will only need an exacto knife and wood glue for the project.

However, students are encouraged to use any addition tools they may have access to through their communities, like 3D printers and laser cutters.

  • How long will the course take?

We estimate that a typical student will need about 3 to 5 hours to be ready for design review.

Once the design review is passed, it will likely take students an additional 3 to 6 hours to build the rocket.

Though this will vary depending on the student's design and the available tools.

  • How much does it cost to build a rocket?

Typically less $30, though it depends largely on your design, Particularly your choice of motor.

  • Is there an age limit or a recommended age range for enrollment?

Short Answer: No age limits! Though usually students are between 12 and 20 years old.

While we can provide video instructions, 1-on-1 mentoring, and build templates, it will ultimately be up to the students to design, build and fly their rocket! If a parent believes their child is sufficiently capable of following through and is willing to offer the needed support, then anything can be achieved!

  • Where and how will we launch the rockets?

We highly recommend that you launch with a local rocketry club as they will have all the equipment you need ready to go at one of their launches! You'll also be able to meet some real sport rocketry experts and see some amazing flights!

They will also know and follow any local laws that may be in place.

Many smaller rockets can be launched at local parks. Though you'll have to purchase or make your own launch pad and be sure to check state and local laws!

  • Where can I find my local Rocketry Club?

In the United States, there are two major organizations of Rocketry Clubs. Check both their databases for active clubs:

National Association of Rocketry (NAR) Database

    TRIPOLI Database

Many of our students are in Utah and Arizona, check to see if you are close to these local clubs:

    Utah Valley: UROC Website

    Phoenix Metro: TRAPHX Website

Southern Arizona and Tucson: SARA Website

  • When will the Full Course be open to everyone?

All chapters should be uploaded by end of March. The students in the Early Enrollment Program will be able to access them.

However, we would like to implement feedback from the first students before fully launching the course in late April.
